Initial Situation

Zischow Dental Hamburg GmbH is an established dental laboratory known for the highest quality and innovative approaches in dental technology. One of the company's specializations is the production of clear aligners – transparent dental trays for correcting tooth misalignments. Via a platform, dentists can upload scans of patient dentitions, which Zischow Dental uses as a basis for creating individual treatment plans and the corresponding aligners.

The Challenge: Precision and Patient Understanding in the Digital Age

Clear aligner therapy is based on a series of custom-made trays that gradually move the teeth into the desired final position. It was crucial for Zischow Dental to provide treating dentists with the most precise and detailed basis possible for evaluating the individual treatment steps. The goal was to optimize the coordination process and offer the best platform on the market. At the same time, the company recognized the enormous potential to significantly increase patient acceptance through better visualization of the treatment outcome.

The Solution: An Interactive 3D Platform for Detailed Insights

We designed and developed a tailor-made web platform that enables Zischow Dental to upload the individual steps of the tooth correction as dynamic 3D models. This innovative solution offers a wealth of advantages:

  • Detailed 3D Visualization: Dentists can view the 3D models of each treatment step directly in the browser. The models can be freely rotated and zoomed, and individual jaw halves can be shown or hidden for a focused analysis. This high level of detail allows for a well-founded assessment of the planned corrections.

  • Step-by-Step Development: The platform visualizes not only the current state and the planned final result but also every single intermediate step of the aligner therapy. This allows dentists to precisely track the gradual development of the dentition.

  • Improved Doctor-Patient Communication: A link to the visualization can be easily and securely shared with the treating dentists. Furthermore, there is the option to provide patients with individual access as well. They can view their future smile and the path to get there on their own computer or smartphone – a powerful tool to promote treatment acceptance and increase anticipation. Patients can take the interactive treatment plan home with them and visualize the planned change again and again.

  • Secure and Accessible Data: The platform ensures the secure storage and transmission of sensitive patient data, in compliance with all relevant data protection regulations.

The Result: Optimized Processes and Enthusiastic Patients

The 3D visualization platform we developed has noticeably improved the workflow for Zischow Dental and its partner dentists. The dentists benefit from an unprecedented level of detail in assessing treatment planning, which leads to more efficient coordination.

A particularly valuable effect is the increased patient acceptance. The ability to interactively experience their own dentition and the planned changes in 3D creates trust and understanding for the treatment.
