Our customer already had the first ideas, concepts and sketches for an app that should enable companies to create professionally produced videos without much effort. As an expert in the field of video editing, especially for commercials and feature films, she knew the challenges that companies face when producing high-quality video material.

Problem

Developing a cross-platform app for iOS and Android that natively supports video editing was technically challenging. At the same time, we had to keep an eye on the limited budget in order to use the available resources efficiently.

Approach

To overcome these challenges, we decided to use Flutter, a cross-platform app development technology. By using Flutter, we were able to cost-effectively develop an app that runs smoothly on both operating systems (iOS and Android) with just one code base. Instead of a traditional backend, we rely on Firebase and Firestore to make data management efficient and flexible.

Implementation

Through the use of Flutter, Firebase and Firestore, we developed the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) on time and launched it in the app stores within a month. The app offers pre-made templates that companies can use to quickly create professional videos. Precise stage directions guide users step by step through the recording process. After that, the video editing takes place automatically. Firebase and Firestore enable our customer to dynamically exchange content and adapt it to different customer groups. We also implemented analytics to collect important information about app usage. This helps our client to evaluate the business model and make data-based decisions for future developments. We also integrated in-app purchases to check customers' willingness to pay. Particularly high-quality video templates can be offered for a fee, whereby the prices can be configured flexibly. By analyzing usage and customer willingness to pay, valuable insights can be gained and the business model can be optimized. In conclusion, it can be stated that we have implemented a solid Minimal Viable Product (MVP) in the shortest possible time and with a manageable budget through a rapid development and the skilful use of modern technologies. This enabled our customer to successfully validate their business model and gain important insights for future steps.
